As the UK National Research and Education Network (NREN) provider, Jisc is a member of GÉANT, the membership body for European NRENs. As well as coordinating the various European networking activities, GÉANT is also involved in a variety of other initiatives, including those around the adoption of cloud services. For example, we have previously shared infomation about the recently announced OCRE Cloud Framework, and our AWS reseller position on it, which is coordinated by GÉANT.
The GÉANT Cloud Services initiative is focused on assisting higher education and research organisations to procure cloud-based services that meet their users’ needs and are uniquely suited to the community’s requirements. This European digital single market seeks to reduce obstacles, such as data privacy, contracting, billing and technical integration, and provides online guides and face-to-face workshops.
In order to help steer their future offers, the GÉANT cloud team is seeking input about your institution’s plans and needs. They are currently running a short survey, which should take no more than 10 minutes to complete, to review demand for cloud solutions within the HE and research community.
