The OCRE Cloud Framework – already saving the Jisc community over £4.5 million

The OCRE Cloud Framework is an OJEU-compliant procurement framework, enabling our members and customers to buy public cloud more easily and to save money. Available under the framework are a wide range of cloud platforms, resources and tools, each of which give our members more choice in the way they deliver their services.

The available platforms include AWS, Azure, GCP, IBM, Oracle and others.

Since its launch in January this year, the new framework has got off to a flying start, with 94 expressions of interest (from potential buyers) and 38 organisations already contracted to consume cloud services at substantially discounted rates. The total estimated contract value is already nearly £35M, over an average contract period of 3.4 years, potentially saving our community more than £4.5M.

To help our members better understand the OCRE offering, we ran 3 days of workshops featuring presentations and Q&A sessions from each of the available cloud providers during May. The recordings of these sessions will be available via our web site. Currently 3 are available, as follows:
